Fancy opening a ‘surprise’ box of health and beauty treats every month? Following in the footsteps of beauty boxes such as Glossybox, BirchBox and Mintd, Natural Wellness have launched the Natural Wellness Box. This health and well-being subscription box contains a different selection of treats every month (or you can order one-off or bi-monthly boxes to suit your budget). Subscription boxes are the perfect a treat for yourself (think of it like a grown-up Lucky Bag) or as a gift for a friend. It’s also a brilliant way to discover new ‘wellness’ products. Everything that you’ll find in the Natural Wellness Box is chemical-free, suitable for vegans and cruelty-free. My box arrived in eco-friendly packaging and it felt like Christmas when I unwrapped all the goodies!
The contents of the Natural Wellness Box varies from month to month so that regular subscribers get to try out a wide variety of products (usually between 5 and 7) from new launches to best-sellers and cult classics. Brands include Clipper Teas, Willy’s, Holistica, Evolve, Kiki Health, Creative Nurture, Potion, London, Skin & Tonic, Juno, Sister & Co, We People and Better You. I found the following (for July subscribers) selection of items in my box – a great mix of treats that I may not otherwise have tried.
If you’re fond of a snack-on-the-go, then these sustainable seaweed snacks, made by Made by The Scottish Seaweed Co., are worth a try. A healthy and nutritious alternative to crisps, each packet of puffs is made with 6 grammes of freshly-picked Scottish seaweed. Packed with beneficial minerals and vitamins including iodine, iron, potassium, antioxidants and magnesium, Seaweed Puffs are gluten-free and only 100 calories per pack. My box included the lime, chilli and coconut flavoured puffs which were delicious. Yum!
I haven’t come across Organii Everyday Organics before, so I was delighted to find their Facial Sun Cream in my Wellness Box. With UVA and UVB protection, the cream is rich in anti-aging and hydrating ingredients such as Argan, Coconut, Carrot Seed and Flax Seed Oils. It felt moisturising without being greasy and protected my skin effectively when I was in the sun. Organii have already scooped a stack of awards for their family-friendly skincare, bath and body products which include shampoo, bar soaps, patches (organic plasters), mouth wash and baby cream. All products are certified natural and organic and are conscientiously packaged. Definitely worth checking out their range here.
When you’re craving a soda but want to avoid the chemical-laden variety, Virtue Sparkling Energy Water hits the spot. With natural fruit and citrus extracts, along with yerba maté extract, ginseng, malic acid, guarana, natural caffeine and vitamins B3, B6, B7, B12, this sparkling, zero-calorie drink is a refreshing substitute for soda. I tried lemon and lime which tasted very refreshing, and as it comes in a tin, it’s fully recyclable. I also liked the fact that for every drink sold, Virtue donate 500 litres of sustainable clean water solutions to countries that need it most.
I was delighted to find this vitamin spray in my Natural Wellness Box. Vitamin sprays are a quick and effective way to get your daily dose of vitamins if you need to supplement your diet. Vitamin B12 is essential for energy metabolism, red blood cell formation and for a healthy immune system but it can be in short supply in vegan or vegetarian diets. Four quick pumps of Better You Daily Vitamin B12 to the inside of your cheek provides a 1,200 of this vitamin. Well worth a try if you are feeling tired or are under stress.
Another new discovery, Hairy Jayne hair products were created to care for thick, wavy hair with a tendency to be dry and unruly. Vegan-friendly, and free from sulfates and parabens, My Natural Wellness Box contained Hairy Jayne Floral Hair Perfume scented with delicious and all-natural geranium, bergamot and vanilla essential oils. The Spray has built-in heat protectors to prevent damage when you’re blow-drying and can also be spritzed onto dry hair to boost shine. A great way to freshen-up your hair between washes, too.
Love Raw Butter Cups are a delicious take on Reese’s cult Peanut Butter Cups which taste fabulous but are, let’s be honest, are not the healthiest snack in town. Love Raw’s cups are 100% vegan, palm oil and refined sugar free, and are made with all raw ingredients, but there’s no compromise on flavour. They have become my absolute favourite snack ‘bar’- and their new Cookie Dough doesn’t disappoint! You’re definitely left wanting more!
Another brand that’s new to me, Myroo Skincare is 100% plant based and created especially for sensitive, allergy-prone skin. Apricot Kernel Oil, rich in protective Vitamin E and soothing Phytosterols, and Starflower Oil, packed with moisturising Omega 6 fatty acids, leave skin gently cleansed and hydrated. And the Orange Blossom scent gives you a real sensory boost. The double-sided organic cloth gently buffs as you cleanse, so you don’t need to use an exfoliator. It smells delicious of orange blossom and gently cleansed my face well without any irritation or sensitivity.
I’m a fan of body brushing as I find it helps remove dead skin cells, ingrown hairs and definitely improves the appearance of my skin. Dry skin brushing also helps boost circulation and stimulate the lymphatic system which in turn helps your body to detoxify. It’s also a great way to perk-up your skin and to keep cellulite in check before baring yourself on holiday. With both stimulating natural bristles and massage nodules, this short-handled brush gives your skin and body a workout, and leaving you glowing from top-to-toe.
