Dani’s Top 5 Green Summer Beauty Swaps

Dani Guinsberg is a celebrity make up artist, and is represented by Carol Hayes Management. Dani has been a make up artist for over 20 years, and has worked on campaigns, advertising, TV, magazines and premieres. Like many of us, Dani is now trying to use natural, vegan, and paraben free makeup, where possible. I asked Dani for her top 5 picks this Summer.

Here is what she recommended;

  1. Babe balm by Bybi

This is a relatively new product and I’m so glad to have found it. Babe balm is 100% natural and vegan. It can be used under makeup as a primer; your foundation will simply glide on effortlessly over it. It will help your skin stay hydrated and look glowy all day or night.  Babe balm is also great for ANY dry areas and is one of those amazing multi use products;

 Here are my top 3 ways to use it:

  • Use it as a moisturising night cream for the face, neck and chest. It has powerful antioxidant properties, and restores and regenerates skin for supple soft complexions.
  • Use it as a nourishing and protective treatment for areas that suffer from dehydration. Calendula and hibiscus get to work on dry legs, hands, feet, elbows and knees.
  • Babe balm can also be used on lips, cheeks and brows. It can be used as a highlighter, illuminator or  lip gloss. It’s creamy texture means you can even mix with your mineral makeup to create bespoke blushes and stains.

A Summer must have!

Babe balm is available in 2 sizes ; 30ml which is perfect for your handbag and 60ml for your bathroom.

2. Burts Bees Lip Scrub

This is a brand new product that has only been available so far in America, but it’s set to launch here in the UK next month, and I’m so excited as I absolutely love it! When models sit in my makeup chair, the first thing I do after cleansing their face, is give their lips a quick lip scrub. This is so that their lips are prepped, as well as their skin. This product really helps lipstick glide on beautifully, and makes the lips look and feel so much healthier

3. Kat Von D Nude Lipstick Collection

This stunning kit of vegan nude lipsticks has great staying power! All the colours in this kit suit all skin tones, and the pigments are really rich in colour. These are in my makeup kit at all times for celebrity red carpet events, as actresses need lip colour that stays on all evening. For extra glamour I like to layer them with a lip gloss. As a vegan and animal activist, Kat Von D is committed to creating hyper-performance beauty products that are completely free of animal-derived ingredients, and never tested on animals.

Kat Von D lipstick normally retails at £17 but is on sale now at Debenhams for £15.30 – winner!

4. Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic

A wonderful way to cool down this summer on these amazingly hot days is to spritz your face with Instant Boost Skin Tonic Booster from Liz Earle . Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer is gentle enough to revitalise, soothe and hydrate our skin throughout the day. All the ingredients are natural, and I have to admit I’ve become quite addicted to this recently, as it’s been so hot in London. What I’ve noticed is how my makeup looks refreshed after spraying, and my skin takes on more radiant glow, rather than grease in the heat.

Instant Boost Skin Tonic retails at £15.50 from Liz Earle.

5.Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser

These luxury tinted moisturisers are oil free and come in a wide selection of colours. They have SPF in them too, which makes them a win win product for everyday. They are easy to use;  apply with your fingers just as you would do with your moisturiser. Going out straight from work – no problem! These can also be layered with foundation to turn day into night time makeup. Chantecaille are a cruelty free brand, they don’t test on animals, or let third parties test on their behalf, and they don’t’t sell their products in China.

Just skin tinted moisturiser retails at £64 from Space NK.

Thank you so much Dani for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us!
I am very excited to try the Burts Bees Lip Scrub – lip scrubbing is a completely new idea for me but it makes perfect sense. I am definitely going to have to invest in the Babe balm as that sounds an amazing product, and so many different ways to use it. I’ve also never tried Kat Von D make up so I will be checking this brand out. I love the idea of spritzing myself on a hot day Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer too – what a great idea! am already using Chantecaille tinted moisturiser, so it’s great to know that is what Dani recommends.

I love following Dani for all her tips and her make up work is simply stunning. Make sure you follow Dani on Facebook  Twitter and Instagram to hear more of her tips on make up and beauty.

About Me

Hi, I’m Natalie Shirlaw, a professional hair stylist on a personal wellness journey.

My aim is to help women live a more natural life that will leave them looking and feeling amazing. Ever since I was 10 I’ve been fascinated with the hairdressing business and officially started working when I was 14. I’ve worked in some of the top UK salons and for some of the best hairdressers in the world, and I now have my own salon in Kent.

 As a hairdresser I’ve always wanted to give my clients the latest and best products and even ended up being a technical consultant for L’Oreal, but one thing was common throughout my career…

I am super passionate about finding natural and organic products that work just as well as the big brand alternatives, and that are ultimately better for you too. For over 10 years I’ve been actively researching, and testing as many products that I can. Everything from skincare, to makeup, to food and even home wear. I’ve been incorporating these products and tactics into my daily life since and I’ve never felt better. Outside of my regular work I’ve studied martial arts and other Eastern practices like Reiki, meditation, Feng Shui, EFT and NLP.

 So as you can see I’m a big advocate for all around healthy and natural living. I’ll be sharing my best tips, tactics and products here, that you can implement easily to live a more natural life, where you can feel and look amazing. I’m super excited to have you with me on this journey and can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together! As I seek and test out natural and organic alternatives to big brand products to find the best on the market, I’ll be sharing my research, results and most importantly my resolve. Please join me on this journey. If I can help just one other woman to feel more fulfilled, happier and healthier my blog will have been worth publishing.
