My mission for Does It Work has always been to discover, test, and report on the best natural alternatives to help women live a healthier life. As a result, I’m always on the hunt for products that deliver great results as well as being kinder to the planet – and to us! So, I was delighted when I discovered MV Organic Skincare, a brand that fits perfectly with my ethos. Created by Sharon McGlinchey, a much-respected Australian holistic facialist, MV organic is cruelty-free and 100% vegan. Not only that it is free from petrochemicals, silicones, phthalates (well-known hormone disruptors), and parabens. It is also been designed for those with even the most sensitive skin.
As well as attracting a host of endorsements from actresses including Emma Watson and Maggie Gyllenhall, wellness cooks and food writers, Jasmine and Melissa Hemsley, and models Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Poppy Delevingne, MV has also scooped a stack of the most prestigious beauty awards (Beauty Bible Awards, Psychologies #realnatural Awards, and the Beauty Shortlist Awards.)
Having read so many rave MV skincare reviews, not surprisingly, I was intrigued to find out more. And I’m pleased to report that I wasn’t disappointed!
What’s different about MV Organic Skincare?
With a multitude of natural and organic skincare ranges to choose from, why pick MV? Founder Sharon McGlinchey’s ethos is to ‘keep it simple’ and to only use ingredients that support and respect the skin and that really do have health benefits. What’s more, the range is relatively small by comparison to many out there as Sharon believes that ‘less is more’ and that we don’t need dozens and dozens of products to maintain healthy, glowing skin.
The formulations are also deliberately different. Highly-concentrated and with a lower water content than the majority of skincare, you don’t need to use as much product. You literally only need what is recommended – two pumps, a couple of drops – and when it comes to the masks, they only need to be left on for 10 to15 minutes at the max.
Why is MV Organic?
If you’ve shifted to buying mainly organic food and lifestyle products, you’ll already know most of the benefits and the reasons for choosing it. Free from pesticides, artificial flavours, colourings, petrochemicals, and other ‘nasties’, it makes sense to avoid things that we know could be harmful with longterm use. That’s a no brainer! The fact that organic ingredients don’t have to be heated to high temperatures like non-organics also means that the products keep more of their active benefits too. Another reason to opt for organics when you can!
The Ritual Approach to Skincare
One of the things that I discovered when using MV organic skincare was that you really do need to follow the instructions to get the most out of the products. Because the formulations are so concentrated, you don’t need to use much, although it’s tempting as everything smells and feels so good! Layering is also recommended for some of the products, such as the booster oils and moisturisers. Using a facial mist or a spritz of spring or filtered water before you apply your moisturiser helps with absorption and means you use less. Products last longer and skin isn’t overloaded, so it’s win, win!
Sharon has also developed a series of ‘mini’ skincare rituals to ensure you get the most out of your daily skincare routine, whether it’s cleansing, hydrating, or mask application. Definitely worth giving these rituals a try.
My experience of MV Organic Skincare
This range really does address modern skincare issues like sensitivity, dehydration, pollution, and breakouts, while still feeling ‘luxurious’. All the products are beautifully scented but free from any artificial fragrance. From the first use, you can tell that the formulations are created with high-quality ingredients, as they feel luxurious. And what’s more, they work! After using the products regularly, my skin is softer, smoother, and more hydrated.
MV Gentle Cream Cleanser
Like all MV organic skincare products, this cleanser has been formulated with a minimum of concentrated ingredients to get the maximum results. It feels luxurious, removing makeup and grime easily but gently, without stripping my skin of oils or leaving it feeling ‘tight’. Delicately scented, this cleanser is perfect for all skin types, even the most sensitive. Packed full of natural goodies including organic Camellia Seed oil, organic Olive Fruit oil, Honeysuckle extract, and organic Rose Geranium, Roman Chamomile, and Australian Mandarin essential oil, it hydrates and cleanses skin in one.
How to use
Although it’s a cream cleanser, you apply it like an oil cleanser. Apply two pumps of cleanser to your palms and massage into dry skin with damp fingertips for no longer than 15 seconds. You then remove the cleanser with a warm to hot cleansing cloth. Press the cloth into the skin and repeat 2 times for perfect cleansing. It took me a while to get used to this method as I normally apply cream cleanser with a cotton pad. But once I got my head around it and I saw and felt the benefits, it was a breeze!
Results: My skin felt more nourished and hydrated. I also noticed less redness and more plumpness which meant I could swap foundation for a tinted moisturiser.
MV Pure Jojoba Oil
This is no ordinary Jojoba Oil! It’s the perfect eye make-up remover, lash-enhancer, and skin soother all-in-one. I love oil cleansing and this purest of oils removes all traces of mascara, even the most stubborn waterproof formulations, easily and delicately. MV Pure Jojoba also helps to strengthen eyelashes while protecting and moisturising the delicate skin around the eyes. But that’s not all! It’s also super-calming and soothing for rosacea and eczema-prone skins. You can also use the oil as a booster to your moisturiser too, making it a very versatile product.
Results: This multitasking marvel has now become an essential part of my skincare routine. No wonder it’s Emma Watson’s red carpet essential!
Rose Plus Booster Oil
This glow-boosting oil is a real skin treat. Along with Rose Otto and Rose Geranium oils, there’s a host of skin-nurturing botanicals including Camellia, Rosehip, Rose, and Geranium oils, Vitamin E (non-GMO) and Rosemary extract. This is perfect for anyone with sensitive or hormonally imbalanced skin (I’m a constant hormonal monster!) as it helps to rebalance and calm skin. Like the other MV products, it can be used in multiple ways. You can add a few drops to face masks for some extra TLC, layer it under moisturiser for a hydration boost, or just apply it on its own for instant radiance.
Results: Wonderfully hydrating, it also feels super-comforting on the skin.
Top Tip: Make this oil go further by spritzing skin with Rose Hydrating Mist before you apply it.
MV Rose Hydrating Mist
Loved by facialists and beauty experts including celebrity facialist, Nichola Joss, MV Rose Hydrating Mist helps to lock in moisture and boost hydration. The super-fine spray mists your face without drenching it so it’s perfect for using to refresh your make-up or as quick pick-me-up throughout the day. And it smells divine!
Results: My skin looks and feels really dewy when I use this ultra-hydrating mist. I’ve been spraying this on before moisturising and have noticed that it improves the absorption of my moisturiser. It’s a really beautiful spritz – and so refreshing!
MV Rose Soothing & Protective Moisturiser
Packed with luxurious Bulgarian Rose Oil, Camellia, Jojoba Seed, and Calendula oils and Honeysuckle extract, this cult moisturiser is adored by celebrities and make-up artists across the globe. It has also won the Editor’s Choice Award in the much-coveted Beauty Shortlist Awards, so I was very keen to give this hydrating hero a go! First impressions? It instantly soothed and moisturised my sensitive skin and I love the delicious rose aroma. It really is luxury in a bottle! For an extra moisture boost, I team it with Rose Hydrating Booster which keeps my hydrated all day. Or I often apply it at bedtime for an overnight treat.
Results: I’m prone to rosacea, but I’ve experienced absolutely no redness or sensitivity since using this luxurious moisturiser.
MV Energising Mineral Mask
If your skin needs a reboot, then this mask is just what the doctor (or dermatologist) ordered! I used the Energising Mineral Mask to perk up my skin when it was looking a bit grey and dull – and I’m pleased to report that it revived my lackluster stressed skin. Highly recommended for sun-damaged skin, and for restoring a healthy glow. A mix-it-yourself mask, it comes with its own brush and a mixing cup.
How to Use
Simply combine 2 teaspoons of powder with spring or filtered water to create a creamy consistency and apply it to dry skin using the brush. Leave it on for 7 to 10 minutes and remove with warm water and a cloth while it’s still slightly damp remove. I love how easy it is to mix up, to apply, and to remove. No-fuss, no mess! Find out more about how to use it here.
Results: A dewy, moisturised complexion with a radiant glow.
MV Signature Mask
Another award-winner, this clay mask is the ideal quick fix for any skin type. Easy to apply, like the Energising Mask it comes with a mixing cup and brush. You only need to leave it on for 10 minutes to see visible results, so it’s perfect as a regular treat. I like to add a couple of drops of Rose Booster to turn this into a luxurious spa-at-home facial! Best of all, it effectively removes dead skin cells without causing any redness, irritation, or tightness.
Results: This is great for problem skin with noticeable instant improvements in oily patches and blemishes. I found it so easy to mix in the stainless steel cup and loved applying it with a brush rather than my fingers. My skin is noticeably smoother after a few uses.

I had high expectations of this range before I tested it, but I’m pleased to say it lived up to the glowing reviews and endorsements which isn’t always the case! It really is high-end luxury skincare but without a hefty price tag! And although it’s not cheap, when you compare it to other luxury skincare brands like La Prairie or Creme de la Mer, it is much more affordable and surpasses both in my opinion. One of the best ranges I’ve used, I can honestly say that I loved every product that I tried.
