Coming out of winter my skin feels like it has lost it’s zest, it looks dull, lifeless and a bit grey. I’ve been searching for a long time for a good face oil to energise my skin and make me look more radiant, and I have tried many different brands, but I didn’t find exactly what I was looking for, until I came across this Geranium and Orange Blossom oil by Rodin olio lusso.

Rumour has it these oils have been used in many runway shows to give models a dewy complexion.

Rodin olio lusso was developed by Linda Rodin, a legendary fashion stylist when she wasn’t happy with the ranges of premium skincare available. Linda first created the face oils at home, using essential oils she had learned about, while travelling around the world. You can read all about Linda’s journey here in Into the Gloss.

All the oils are paraben free and cruelty free.

Every Rodin formula has a formula of 9 powerhouse oils, including Asian Sweet Almond oil, Moroccan Argan oil and Himalayan Apricot Seed oil. The oils also include omega oils and fatty acids, which help build a skin strengthening moisture barrier, and antioxidants to improve the skin’s appearance.

Vogue have called it “the prized elixir.”

I love the packaging; the box is a really cheerful peach colour and I keep my oil in the box and in a dark cupboard, away from light, as the bottle is clear in colour, and this prevents the oil from going off.

3 or 4 drops is plenty as the oil spreads well

HOW TO USE

Massage into your freshly cleansed face when skin is still slightly moist, morning and evening, wait for a few minutes, then apply your moisturiser.

As I massage it into my skin I can feel the quality of this oil immediately. My skin feels immediately moisturised and I notice that the oil doesn’t soak in and disappear, it continues to feel supple and replenished for hours afterwards. For me this oil is the best face oil I have ever used, the consistency is perfect, it is rich without feeling greasy, and your skin feels hydrated and plump – I love it!

I am not a morning person but I have been enjoying my new morning routine of cleansing my face, then massaging my Rodin oil in and doing some face yoga exercises for a few minutes before I get ready, and I really have noticed a difference. My skin looks more radiant and definitely has more colour. I am sure this is from massaging the oil in as I’m doing my face stretches; I think the two really work well together.

If you suffer from rosacea or have sensitive skin, you could try the Lavender Absolute Face Oil which will help calm the skin and reduce any redness and sensitivity.

This oil is pricey at £146 on Amazon but I think it is worth every penny. I prefer investing in one amazing skin product, rather than messing about trying out lots of products that ultimately really don’t do much, then sit in the cupboard for months.

About Me

About Me

Welcome to Does It Work, my blog dedicated to sharing my quest to live a healthier, less toxic and more natural way of life. If you want to look good and feel great, are eager to avoid chemical-overload in your life - and find effective alternatives to every day products, you've come to the right place! I'm passionate about finding organic and natural alternatives to mainstream products. Why? Because I really believe they are better for us - and for our environment. We use so many chemical-laden products in our homes, and on our skin and hair, that it's vital to be mindful of what we’re using, not just for our own health, but for our children, pets and the planet. My passion for natural, safer alternatives has also been fuelled by the fact that my mum died of cancer when she was very young, something that could well be attributed to the prevalence of potentially harmful ingredients commonly used in hair products and skincare, food additives and chemicals found in the environment. I've always shared my recommendations and experiences of products, treatments and therapies that I've tried and tested with my clients (I'm a professional hairdresser), and through my blog, I can reach a new and wider audience. As well as my expertise in hair, I have considerable knowledge and experience of alternative therapies and techniques, including Reiki, meditation, Feng Shui, EFT, NLP and martial arts. I’ve been actively researching, and testing as many products that I can over the last 10 years. From skincare and make-up, to food and even homeware, I’ve been incorporating the best of what I find into my daily life - and I’ve never felt better. And now I'm sharing it with you, so you can read about things that I've road-tested – and take your pick of the products that I've tried. I'm glad to have you on board and look forward to hearing about your experiences too. Enjoy! Natalie X
