This cold weather plays havoc with my skin, and often leaves my lips feeling dry and chapped, so I’ve been taking time to search for a lip salve that works efficiently, and also meets my requirements in a product. I’m sure many of you know me by now, I have a checklist; I like vegan, natural, sustainably sourced ingredients, eco packaging, non animal tested and I really like to support small businesses too. And on top of all of that, I still want the product to work efficiently and look beautiful in my bathroom. Ok, I know I’m asking for a lot, but when I found Sister and Co their products were a perfect fit.

Sister and Co products contain food grade ingredients like organic nut butters and cold pressed essential oils to heal and nourish the body.

Sister and Co was founded by Sophie Thomson, after she went on a yoga retreat in Goa. While there, Sophie began using raw coconut oil on her skin, and noticed her skin cleared up completely. When she returned home, Sophie wanted to continue with this routine, but couldn’t find anything as pure or natural, as the coconut oil she had been using in Goa. She was disappointed also to find, many of the natural ingredient beauty products still contained chemical fillers, preservatives and synthetic fragrance. So Sophie began developing products and this beautiful range of Sister and Co products is the result.

The first thing I noticed and love about this Sister and Co lip tonic, is although the products are natural, they still feel luxury and high end. I need a natural product, but I also want it to work and look stylish. Even the name, Raw Coconut Lemon Myrtle and Wild Mint Lip Tonic , sounds delicious!

When you put the tonic on your lips, the taste is quite incredible. I can really taste the lemon and mint yet it still obviously feels and tastes very natural. We lick our lips constantly and we have to worry how much of our lip salves and lipstick end up in our stomach. Research has shown that women who wear lipstick and lip salve, may ingest up to four pounds during their lifetime. This is quite a terrifying prospect; That information alone, makes me happy to have found a food grade ingredient lip salve.

My lips have been so much more moisturised, and I’ve experienced no chapping at all since I’ve been using this lip tonic, so I’m very happy to share this company with you all, and I hope you all enjoy this gorgeous range.

If you would like to try any of the Sister and Co products, here is a list of their stockists or you can purchase them online here

If you would like to try the Lemon Myrtle and Wild Mint Lip Balm it retails at £9 and you can purchase it here.

Throughout March to mark International Women’s Day 10% of all Sister and Co proceeds will be donated to Solace Women’s Aid

About Me

About Me

Welcome to Does It Work, my blog dedicated to sharing my quest to live a healthier, less toxic and more natural way of life. If you want to look good and feel great, are eager to avoid chemical-overload in your life - and find effective alternatives to every day products, you've come to the right place! I'm passionate about finding organic and natural alternatives to mainstream products. Why? Because I really believe they are better for us - and for our environment. We use so many chemical-laden products in our homes, and on our skin and hair, that it's vital to be mindful of what we’re using, not just for our own health, but for our children, pets and the planet. My passion for natural, safer alternatives has also been fuelled by the fact that my mum died of cancer when she was very young, something that could well be attributed to the prevalence of potentially harmful ingredients commonly used in hair products and skincare, food additives and chemicals found in the environment. I've always shared my recommendations and experiences of products, treatments and therapies that I've tried and tested with my clients (I'm a professional hairdresser), and through my blog, I can reach a new and wider audience. As well as my expertise in hair, I have considerable knowledge and experience of alternative therapies and techniques, including Reiki, meditation, Feng Shui, EFT, NLP and martial arts. I’ve been actively researching, and testing as many products that I can over the last 10 years. From skincare and make-up, to food and even homeware, I’ve been incorporating the best of what I find into my daily life - and I’ve never felt better. And now I'm sharing it with you, so you can read about things that I've road-tested – and take your pick of the products that I've tried. I'm glad to have you on board and look forward to hearing about your experiences too. Enjoy! Natalie X
