As we’re all living such busy lives now, finding quick and easy ways to improve and maintain our health is the vital.
A friend recently told me how much she loved my green smoothie challenge post as it helped her get organised. I love this challenge too, and I do it regularly to make sure that I’m prepared for each week.
This got me thinking about Superfood Powders which, like smoothies, can be a real all-round boost for health and wellbeing.
Superfood Powders are an Easy Way to Boost Nutrition
Superfood Powders are a great way to ‘up’ your vitamin, mineral and protein intake, but they are a bit of a minefield. With so many varieties on the market, the choice is bewildering.
Do I need more collagen? Or could I benefit from extra protein or greens in my diet?
Picking the right powder for you really depends on age, your diet and any ailments you may have. I supplement my diet with collagen powder as I am menopausal and have problems with skin elasticity, as well as joint pain.
I also take protein powder to support my plant-based diet and to keep my iron levels stable, and green powders to give me a great all-round boost.
If you’re unsure which Superfood Powder could benefit your diet, try this quick quiz.
What are the best Superfood Powders?
The good news is that there is a powder out there to suit everyone, whether you’re following a vegan, gluten-free, kosher or Paleo diet.
To help you identify the perfect Superfood Powder for your nutritional needs.
I’ve compiled my Top 5 Superfood Powders;
Great for: An all-round energy boost
Your Super Powders bounced into my life and kicked me straight up the backside into action!
As soon as I opened the box, inspirational affirmation ‘tickets’ like “I am Forever Beautiful” and “I am capable of doing anything and everything” tumbled out – and from that moment I was hooked!
The powders also come with a recipe booklet which I think is just genius. I have made raw balls, smoothies, smoothie bowls and dressings – the list is endless.
Check out their recipes here.
I’m always looking for ways to replace coffee. It’s one of my few vices and I’m still clinging on to it for dear life!
However, Energy Bomb promises to change all that.
One spoon of powder = one coffee and it has really changed my habit. It’s so easy to use – plus, it tastes good too.
Add a spoonful to a cup of almond milk and feel yourself spring (quite literally in my case) into action!
Ingredients: Guarana, maca, lucuma, acai and banana.
How to Use:
Add Your Super Energy Bomb Mix to raw ball mixes, yoghurt, juice and smoothies. As they’re not too powdery, you can even sprinkle them over peanut butter on toast or over salads.
They are definitely the most versatile powders that I’ve tried.
Without a doubt, my absolute favourite Superfood Powders at the moment. Competitively priced at £22.90, they taste great and have no ‘powdery’ aftertaste.
My next investment will be their Forever Beautiful powder!

Raw Ball Recipe
- 1 tbsp Energy Bomb
- 1 cup pitted dates
- 1/2 cup oatmeal
- 1/2 cup almonds
- Blend all ingredients in a food processor until sticky and roll into balls.
- Ready to eat!
- Store the rest in the fridge.
I find a food processor works better than a high speed blender.
I have tried loads of food processors but my absolute favourite is this Sage appliance designed by Heston Blumenthal, I absolutely love it.
Great for: Boosting protein and iron levels
Sunwarrior Powders are one of the best Superfood Powder ranges on the market. They are raw, paleo, kosher, gluten free and vegan and at 85% protein, and have the highest levels of raw wholegrain sprouted vegan protein. They are also classed as being raw, non- GMO, organic and soy-free.
Sunwarrior Protein comes in 2 varieties – Classic and Warrior Blend. The Classic is made from wholegrain brown rice, while Warrior Blend is made from pea, hemp seed, and cranberry seed proteins.
I prefer the Warrior Blend as I find it’s easier to digest and too much brown rice makes me gain weight and feel bloated.
Warrior Blend comes in 3 flavours – natural, chocolate and vanilla. I prefer the natural flavour as I’m not a fan of chocolate flavouring. Vanilla is perfect if you have a sweet tooth, or for a newbie smoothie-maker swapping from sugary sodas.
I also love their Collagen Powder but it’s currently only available in the US. One scoop of Warrior Powder has 30% of your daily iron intake.
Ingredients: Proprietary Protein Blend (organic pea protein, organic hemp protein, organic goji berry); organic cocoa, organic chocolate flavour, stabiliser (organic guar gum); sea salt, sweetener (organic steviol glycosides); organic whole ground coconut.
How to use
Add to smoothies and blend until smooth.
This one is great for anyone like me who has low iron levels as it’s an easy way to ensure they are topped up.
It mixes easily in liquid but I wouldn’t add this powder to food because of it’s consistency.
Get involved – your body will be grateful of the boost!
Great for: Supercharging your diet and alkalising your body
I am always buying green powders only to discover that they are either too bitter to drink/eat or like eating grass!
The result? They sit unused in my cupboard. So, I’m delighted to have found this Super Green Powder as it is the first green powder I’ve tried that’s actually palatable!
I also love the fact that one spoon = a whole handful of greens. It’s a simple way of adding more nutrition and vitamins to your daily intake.
Ingredients: Chlorella, Spirulina, Moringa, Wheatgrass, Baobab and Barley grass.
How to Use:
Stir straight into water for an instant green juice, or add to smoothies, smoothie bowls, raw balls, green curries or yoghurt.
One of the best green powders I’ve tried with absolutely no bitterness or aftertaste. Boost your wellbeing and alkalise your body easily with this powder. I love the fact that it’s so versatile and easy to use.

Completely tasteless and odorless, it’s very easily digested. Although not suitable for vegans or vegetarians as it’s derived from grass-fed beef, there’s no doubt that it is one of the best collagen powders on the market.
There are hundreds of reviews from users who have experienced improvements in the condition of their skin, hair and nails, along with less joint inflammation and improved mobility.
Ingredients: Collagen derived from pasture-raised and grass-fed cattle based on the standards of the American Grassfed Association and animal welfare guidelines.
How to Use:
Add to drinks, soups and smoothies. As there’s no taste, you get all the benefits without even knowing!
Odorless and tasteless, you can add this to anything so it’s incredibly versatile.
I’d say this is great for newbie wellness enthusiasts or anyone wanting to improve their wellbeing but who doesn’t have the courage to reach for green powders and juices just yet!
Great for: Boosting collagen
Vital Proteins Collagen Coffee Creamer is made from healthy fats derived from organic coconut milk, along with 10g of collagen peptides sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised cattle.
Not suitable for vegans or vegetarians, it is Paleo-friendly and Whole30 Approved and free from dairy, soy, carrageenan, gluten, artificial sweeteners, and added sugars.
Simply add a scoop to coffee instead of milk. It is easily digested and absorbed by the body, but beware – it is fairly calorific with a whopping 140 calories per serving, so don’t make this a daily habit if you are trying to lose weight!
Ingredients: Collagen Peptides, Organic Coconut Milk Powder, Organic Bamboo Shoot Extract, Organic Acacia Fiber.
How to Use:
Soluble in hot liquids, best added to coffee, add a scoop and stir in.
One of the easiest ways to up collagen levels in your diet. I bought this for my husband who is always complaining of joint pain but who isn’t a smoothie man!
It’s not too creamy, is very simple to use, and is great for anyone who is always running out of milk for their coffee!
Perfect for my coffee-loving husband who doesn’t like anything that tastes like ‘grass’ and who never puts weight on, despite eating whatever he likes. Yeah! Annoying, right?
