The Silva Ultramind System is a meditation and self-development programme that helps to raise intuition, access higher states of consciousness and develop our own in-built healing abilities. One of the most popular, widely used techniques in the world, The Silva Method was developed by José Silva to help students gain mind control, and has had over 6 million students since it started in 1960. Getting control of your mind is one of the biggest gifts you can give yourself.
The Silva Ultramind System is described as follows:
“The Silva Ultramind System is a highly optimized framework for awakening your mind’s fullest potential. Through an easy-to-follow process, you gain an instinctive understanding of the four primary states of consciousness the human mind operates in – and how to use each one to perform, evolve, and live at your peak.”
If this all sounds too good be true – or a bit far-fetched – The Silva System taps into the real science of psychoneuroimmunology (PNI). PNI is the study of the interactions between our neural, behavioral and endocrine (or neuroendocrine) pathways and our immunologic processes.
What are the benefits of The Silva Ultramind System?
- Achieve deep relaxation
- Master meditation
- Learn how to manifest
- Self-diagnosis illness and emotional challenges
- Understand how to heal yourself and others
- How to control pain

Alpha Waves = The Peak Performance State
Through his study of brain waves, the founder of The Silva Method, parapsychologist, Silva discovered that the alpha state, also known as the Peak Performance State, can help us to reach new levels of awareness. Scientific research has also shown that Alpha brainwaves are linked to increased creativity, deep relaxation, and reduced levels of depression. I first discovered the five different brainwave states when I learned Neurofeedback. Various levels of awareness are associated with specific brainwave states
- Alpha brainwaves are associated with a state of relaxation and represent the
brain shifting into an idling gear, waiting to respond when needed. If we close our
eyes and begin to picture something peaceful, our alpha brainwaves increase.
• Beta brainwaves are smaller, faster brainwaves associated with mental
• Delta brainwaves are the slowest, highest amplitude brain waves which we
experience when we are asleep.
• Gamma brainwaves are the fastest brain waves and are linked to perception and
• Theta brainwaves are associated with a very relaxed state,
somewhere between waking and sleep.

How Alpha Waves can improve our health and wellbeing
Many of us spend most of our lives in a Beta state which is associated with the brain’s normal day-to-day functioning. However, when we spend too long in the Beta state as we may find ourselves experiencing the ‘monkey mind’
While we are in this state, we tend to overthink situations, experiences and problems, often driving ourselves crazy trying to find solutions. It also puts us in a ‘high alert’ state, where we constantly ‘talk’ to ourselves, leading to a increase in feelings of agitation, tension, and fear.
Conversely, when we are in an Alpha state, we are very relaxed yet still alert and awake. This is the most beneficial state to be in when we meditate, and the trick to getting the most out of meditation is to stay in Alpha and avoid dropping into Theta and falling asleep! It’s a skill that takes many years or even a lifetime to master and many people often give up their meditation practice before fully understanding this principle. But the good news is that even a few minutes spent in the Alpha state brings immediate improvements so that even beginners can feel better very quickly. The skill is to be able to control your mind for most of the time so that you don’t suffer from ‘lower’ emotions, such as anxiety, depression and jealousy.

The Mindvalley Programme
The 28-day online Mindvalley Programme is known as The Silva Ultramind System. Unfortunately, José Silva died a few years ago but his legacy lives on through Mindvalley founder Vishen Lakhiani. Vishen Lakhiani is a Silva Ultramind instructor and the Ultramind version of The Silva Method was written by Silva before he died. Vishen is one of my favourite spiritual teachers. He is very engaging and easy to watch and breaks down The Silva Method into sections that are easy to follow and understand. His voice is also very soothing throughout the guided exercises, which is so important when you are following a meditation

My thoughts on The Silva Ultramind System
I’ve been a fan of Mindvalley and its founder, Vishen Lakhiani, for a few years now. I find him empowering and inspiring, and his passion always comes through in his lessons. There are some genius parts to The Silva Method. I really like the part where problems become projects that you then give to your altered states to solve. I also like the fact that it goes deep into your desires and why you want to achieve certain goals. This is quite an enlightening step, and I found answers and conclusions that I hadn’t realised before. The healing benefits are also interesting, and I found it quite an eye- opener. I do believe that we all have the power to heal ourselves naturally, and many followers of The Silva Method have made some amazing claims about healing themselves and others using this method.
While I enjoyed learning more about The Silva Method, there are some aspects that personally, I found a bit ‘out there’! However, the technique will appeal to advanced meditators or anyone who is interested in exploring mind control in more depth. But there’s no doubt that practicing this method will give you more control over your mind and thoughts. Mind expansion is also key if you’re trying to manifest something!
If you’re not sure whether The Silva Ultramind System is right for you, I would definitely recommend that you sign up for the free Masterclass. The 90 minute class will give you a real insight into the technique and plenty of food for thought! Here is a quick snippet.
