A Natural Deodorant that Works

I love using natural cruelty free products and will seek out these brands when I’m selecting hair, beauty or self care items. Although I will always choose natural where I can, I will also not compromise on effectiveness, so until recently I have been using a regular deodorant: long lasting, very effective and picked up with my weekly shop.

Being a hairdresser, I work by standing and leaning over my customers; I want to feel confident that I smell fresh and feel dry for the whole day, and the products that I use must work as I need them to. In the past, I have tried many natural deodorants but with little success, always turning back to the more effective, yet not natural or organic brands.

However, being in my self care journey means that I want to do the very best by my body (and who would’t rather reduce the risk of rolling carcinogens so close to our lymph glands?), and so, I need to turn back to natural products. Tropic are a brand I have been interested in recently, so I decided to give their Feel Fresh deodorant a try.

Tropic is the brainchild of Susie Ma , Susie grew up experimenting with skincare products and, at the tender age of 15, was selling her produce at Greenwich Market. She went on to star in The Apprentice in 2011 and, although she didn’t win, Alan Sugar invested in her idea, becoming a 50/50 partner.

Tropic are a skincare, body care and make up brand that contain naturally derived ingredients, and are free from toxic chemicals. Tropic products have not been tested on animals, nor do they contain any animal derivatives such as beeswax or honey, and are Vegan approved. Tropic have won countless awards, including Ok Beauty Awards and The Natural Health Awards, and have been featured in many magazines including Instyle, Glamour and even Vogue.

This deodorant is also an antiperspirant and what is so unusual for me, it is in a cream form. It contains antibacterial citrus essential oils, soothing oat oil, repairing bisabolol and detoxifying bentonite clays. It feels very gentle under your arms, spreads easily and smells delicious. I find it to last well too, well over a couple of months for 1 tube. I have worked confidently all day and trained hard at the gym, with no sign of moisture or smell. So I am really happy to report that this product works very effectively, and I am a total convert. This is the very first natural deodorant I have ever been confident using.

If you would like to treat yourself to a Tropic Feel Fresh deodorant, it retails at £10 and you can purchase one here.

I am now trialling the Tropic Sun drops which are gradual tanning drops that you add to your moisturiser and their award winning Super green Serum so I will keep you all posted on these.

About Me

Welcome to Does It Work, my blog dedicated to sharing my quest to live a healthier, less toxic and more natural way of life. If you want to look good and feel great, are eager to avoid chemical-overload in your life - and find effective alternatives to every day products, you've come to the right place! I'm passionate about finding organic and natural alternatives to mainstream products. Why? Because I really believe they are better for us - and for our environment. We use so many chemical-laden products in our homes, and on our skin and hair, that it's vital to be mindful of what we’re using, not just for our own health, but for our children, pets and the planet. My passion for natural, safer alternatives has also been fuelled by the fact that my mum died of cancer when she was very young, something that could well be attributed to the prevalence of potentially harmful ingredients commonly used in hair products and skincare, food additives and chemicals found in the environment. I've always shared my recommendations and experiences of products, treatments and therapies that I've tried and tested with my clients (I'm a professional hairdresser), and through my blog, I can reach a new and wider audience. As well as my expertise in hair, I have considerable knowledge and experience of alternative therapies and techniques, including Reiki, meditation, Feng Shui, EFT, NLP and martial arts. I’ve been actively researching, and testing as many products that I can over the last 10 years. From skincare and make-up, to food and even homeware, I’ve been incorporating the best of what I find into my daily life - and I’ve never felt better. And now I'm sharing it with you, so you can read about things that I've road-tested – and take your pick of the products that I've tried. I'm glad to have you on board and look forward to hearing about your experiences too. Enjoy! Natalie X
