I’ve compiled a list of my favourite tried, tested, and trusted zero waste products that I hope will help you to live plastic-free! Swapping to a zero-waste lifestyle is an ongoing journey that not only takes time, but it also takes a change in mindset too. So, whether you are just starting out your own zero-waste journey or you’re already well on your way, these products will help you weed out any remaining single-use plastics or even introduce you to alternatives that you hadn’t even thought about!
With plastic pollution fast becoming one of the biggest threats to ocean ecosystems, reducing plastic use may take years and years. It will undoubtedly need everyone – consumers, manufacturers, governments, and regulators – to be fully involved and onboard. This monumental task requires each and every one of us to participate, not just locally but globally too. But in the meantime, while we work towards universal co-operation and a long-term fix for waste, here are a few things that we can all do to reduce our own waste mountains. Without a doubt, every small change we make makes a difference!
Zero Waste Products to Help you Live Plastic Free
A duvet made out of 50 recycled plastic bottles. Whaaaaat? Yes, that’s exactly what Duvethog duvets are made of. How amazing is that? And not only are these eco-friendly duvets a brilliant way to recycle otherwise wasteful plastic, but they are also CRUELTY-FREE and suitable for VEGANS. Obviously a triple-whammy!
So, it’s definitely time to ditch those cruel feather-filled and potentially toxic acrylic duvets and move into 2020 with bedding that is eco-friendly, kind to animals, and our health! To create the filling, the bottles are spun like candy-floss until they create a soft, cloud-like material, all of which is done in a zero-waste eco-friendly factory powered by 100% renewable energy. I also love the fact that Duvethog duvets come in their own bag so you can store your summer or winter duvet easily until you need it again. Available in 4.5, 10.5 and 13.5 tog, I recommend that you check out these eco-winners! One of my favourite zero waste products!
Beauty Kitchen holds a special place in my heart as they’re actually based in my Scottish hometown of Wishaw! On a mission to create the most effective sustainable beauty products in the world, this award-winning range is popping up everywhere from Boots to Sainsbury’s! Beauty Kitchen’s philosophy is simple. Firstly, they believe that all their products have to work, which as you all know, is the ethos of my own blog! And I can confirm that I have tested Beauty Kitchen’s products – and they do work!
Zero Waste Skincare
As well as all the ingredients being 100% natural – the range is really affordable too. I absolutely love the Organic Vegan Hand Sanitiser Spray which is not only highly effective, it smells delicious, thanks to the Peppermint, Sweet Orange, May Chang, and Spearmint essential oils. Their ground-breaking RETURN • REFILL • REPEAT programme is just genius.
Designed with sustainability in mind, every single product in this award-winning range can be returned, washed, and re-used. Surely something that all companies should be doing to reduce packaging waste? Zero waste skincare is the way forward!
I shudder to think how many disposable cotton make-up remover pads end up in landfill each year, especially when you consider that most women use at least 3 pads per day to remove make-up! However, there are now some fantastic alternatives available. LastObject was founded in 2018 by Isabel Aagaard whose mission was to design innovative solutions to wasteful habits that make a lasting positive impact.
Her latest launch LastRound is a set of reusable pads that can be reused over 1000 times! Made from 70% wood fibre and 30% cotton, these pads are suitable for even the most sensitive or delicate skins. Similar in size to normal ‘throwaway’ cotton pads, LastRound pads are 100% reusable and come in a biodegradable case too. This makes them not only cost-effective but also great for travel! Not only are you helping to save the planet, but you’ll also be saving money too! Win-Win.
Marley’s Monsters Food Covers
Marley’s Monsters are all designed by former interior designer, Sarah Dooley, which is why everything is just so cute! These washable and reusable bowl and plate covers are the perfect replacement for disposable plastic wrap and foil. Simply throw them in the washing machine and re-use! Absolutely perfect for covering leftovers or anything else that you want to keep fresh in the fridge. These gorgeous printed cotton covers come with a choice of 2 linings, depending on the type of foods you are covering.
To cover salad, fruit and pasta, opt for the Waterproof PUL covers made from a polyester knit fabric which is soft, flexible, and breathable. Importantly, these covers also have a wipeable BPA-free lining to create a waterproof interior best to cover foods that need to retain moisture. BPA or bisphenol A is a chemical that is added to many commercial products including food containers and hygiene products which have been found to be potentially toxic if used regularly.
Plastic Free Products
If you want to keep items such as chips, dough and pies fresh, the Unbleached Cotton covers are the best option as they have a 100% cotton lining that helps to prevent food drying out.
A 3 Piece Marley’s Monsters Bundle includes 1 large, 1 medium, 1 small cover with your choice of lining. I especially love the clever drawstring design as you can adjust the cover to fit your bowl snuggly. Genius!

Zero Waste Items & Plastic Free Products
Did you know that most women throw away over 10,000 disposable sanitary products in a lifetime? That’s certainly a huge amount of waste! Sanitary waste has such a detrimental impact on the environment, with sanitary pads taking as long as 500 years to fully decompose. However, there are such great plastic-free products on the market, we can protect the planet and save money too!
Zero waste Period Pants
It’s not often that you can say that a pair of pants will change your life, but Wuka Pants really do! Wuka Pants are the perfect ‘period pants’, allowing you to dispense with pads and tampons. Available in 3 absorbencies – heavy flow, medium flow, and light flow – they’re perfect for everything even sport. I love them for bed as I never have to worry about my white sheets when I wear them! In comparison to traditional sanitary products, they hold up to 4 times the amount of blood, yet they feel so comfortable you forget you’re wearing them. Easy to wash, I just rinse mine, then throw them into the washing machine and they come out like new. I’ve had my first pair of Wuka’s for over a year and they are still going strong.
They have now just launched bikini briefs, so you can even go to the beach with worrying!
